« on: September 17, 2006, 11:28:42 AM »
...for I have sinned.
I bought a non Alembic this weekend. The bass is one piece completely, entirely made of a substance called SoundCompound
I'ts a Catalyst Tigris from a Dutch company and it's wicked!:

More info can be found on www.catalyst.nl
No worries, the Alembics still are my favorites

Cool new axe Flip. I always like the nostalgic look.

I used to have a Gibson similar to your Ripper but mine was a Grabber G-3. In high school our lab band bass was a Grabber with the single sliding PU.

That's a 1957 Hofner. Sadly the neck is broken where it joins the body... It's a wall decoration now until I have the $$$ for a repair.

I think the Ripper will stay. I love it so much, so my asking price is unreasonable high

  Here's another group shot:

Totally inspired by PT (The Who) This was (is) a very cheap immitation, the last moments of this guitar were captured on video.
Someday I will send it to the folks in Santa Rosa for a refinish

Thanx Olie, I also love that classic look. There's nothing classic in the materials used, we're talkin' high tech here.

Quote:
A group of young engineers of the Delft University of Technology set out to develop a composite material focusing on acoustics in general and resonance in particular. They looked for a material that would equal or even surpass the resonance properties of wood. To make a long story short: they did this by incorporating a ceramic cell structure into the composite material. Thus SoundCompound was born. Other ingredients complete the composite, but a good Chef de Cuisine doesn't tell all his secrets! The ceramic cell structure gives SoundCompound an enormous resonance and sustain.

I checked out their web site Flip though I could hear some clips but all they had were of the guitars. Maybe you let us hear some sounds.

One of these days we'll get a pic of Rami's collection. That will be something else.

Flip, I've never really taken a family photo of the entire lot. May be the thing to do tonight.
