Pigtronix/ Orion Sighting

There's a video of Ernie Jackson playing an Alembic guitar for a Pigtronix demo here:

Discussed in a previous thread here:

I just wanted to add that David Koltai (Mr. Pigtronix) is a college buddy of mine, we played in a band together there, he gigged with I Like Orange a couple weeks ago and we jam from time to time.  A great guy, great guitar player, and I like his pedals.  The site has some cool links to bass tracks through the MP3.  I've got to play around with the pedals a bit, and hear them live, and I'm a big fan.

You can see/hear Dave's pedalboard (a monster) live for yourself this Saturday at BB King's (NYC), I'll post the info below.

I don't want to sound like I'm advertising for him- of course he's my friend so I want to see him do well- I was happy that his stuff got a positive review in the other thread and I figured I'd say a few words about the kid.

Here's Dave's email about the gig.  I'll wear my Alembic shirt if anyone wants to say hi.

I will be performing with Afro Pop/Reggae Superstars Kojo Antwi (Mr. Music Man), Ras Kimono, and Soum Bill this Saturday (9/16) at B.B. King's club in Times Square.

These guys are from Ghana, Nigera and Ivory Coast respectively.

The show starts at 11:30pm. Details are here: http://www.bbkingblues.com/schedule/moreinfo.cgi?id=3640

Sonny Landreth is performing at 8pm. He is one of the world's greatest musicians.

Thanks for reading,
Jack

I did.  It was... interesting.  Turns out another college buddy/former and sometimes bandmate was on keys.  Ran into a few old friends.  Unfortunately, the sound wasn't so great.  Which is surprising, because BB King's is a top of the line venue and I've seen other bands there that sounded great.  Ras Kimono was an interesting character to put it mildly.  Not really my cup of tea, but entertaining nonetheless.  My buddies played excellent, and there was a lot of soloing/jamming so that was great.  Otherwise it was kind of modern reggae.  I like my reggae with only a dash of electronica; in fact, that goes for my tastes across the board.  Never been a big fan of sampling, etc., although it can be cool in small doses.  Oh, and one of the girls opening up was undoubtedly lipsynching (sp?), so that kind of made me lose interest in the whole production from the beginning.

Late night at work, then off to Canada for a week and a half.  Hope everyone has a good week.

That's too bad.  I'm not a big fan of sampling, etc either; and lipsynching is just ... well let's just say it's not live music.
