Cable building?

Anyone out there build your own cables? If so, where do you get your supplies? I want to chop up a 6' monster cable and make 6-7 shorter ones out of it, so I guess I need about a dozen cable ends.
Thanks-
Bob

Bob,
Rather than sacrificing a pre-built cable, why not get all of the parts and build them?
That lavacables site that Alan recommended seemed to have raw parts available.

Bob:
I used George Ls when I put my pedal board together. Very neat, easy to use, and solderless connetions! I've gigged with it numerous times - no problems yet.

Belden 8424 (if memory serves) and Switchcraft (A5F, A5M) are the parts needed, and a good soldering pencil. Life seems easier when you've got spares!

Brad, maybe I missed it but I only saw cables for sale, not connectors.
Thanks, Bill. I don't mind soldering, but I'll take a look.

www.markertek.com
has anything you could possibly need for a cable. Cheap too! It is where I get the parts to make my 5 pins.

You might also try some of the bigger electronics suppliers..Mouser, Digikey, Newark.
You can find all the cable (in bulk too) and connectors to last a life time.

Redco.com is where I go. A little cheaper than Markertek. I use Canare for instrument cable and Mogami for mic cable. I have one cable that's Cardas, but it was a special deal.
