THG Knobs
« on: October 13, 2006, 04:34:29 PM »
I was just curious if anyone has ordered custom knobs from THG and how long it took to get them?
I ordered some a little over 4 months ago from Roger and am still waiting in them.

Olie:

I've ordered custom knobs twice from Roger.  Both times it took about 3 weeks, or a month at the most, as best as I can recall.  Have you made an inquiry?  For what it's worth, I found Roger very attentive and a pleasure to deal with.

Roger did Pele's in about two weeks but I did ask for a rush job since she was almost finished and he was kind enough to oblige.  E.T.'s took about 6 weeks.  I'd call or email.

I've spoke to Roger about a month ago and he said he had started them. I sent an email today so we'll see. I did order 4 sets, all 3 MK's and the S-2, so that may be what is taking a little longer.

Ive had Roger make knobs for two of my previous Alembics so far and I currently have an order on my SC deluxe that Im waiting for him to get started on (should be GOOD!)
drop him an email it sometimes takes him a little while to get back to you but he does with minimal trouble it seems at least from my end, he has always deliverd. Are you sure he recieved your order?

Most of you have seen this bass (ebay scammer keeps trying to sell it), but I don't think you've seen it illuminated. The knobs I have ordered for it will have red LEDS in them thats what is taking so long on my order.

Holy smokes- LED knobs?!  Very slick indeed.  The bar of customization has just risen....

How will they get their power?

It takes him awhile...it depends on how fancy you go..ergo LED's are gonna take some time. I have custom THG knob sets on two out of three of my Alembics, my Heritage Golden Eagle arch-top and my custom Straub Cantus amp. They all took several weeks to a couple of months. Roger is very good, but cheap and fast are not words I'd use for an appropos description, LOL!

Cheers,

Olie, LED knobs?  Cool.  What's next, voice activated self-turning knobs?  Or better yet, voice activated, self-turning, talking knobs!

Imagine:

Bass, volume to 7, filter to 6.5 and CVQ to 3 o'clock

Are you sure Dave?  Wouldn't you prefer a less trebly sound, Dave?  Excuse me while I rewire the AC power direct to the strings, Dave - HEY, what are you doing Dave!!  Please don't unplug my DS-5!! Please Dave ... I can fell my power draining ... I'm losing power ... please Dave ... 'Daisy, Daisy' ...  thffffftttt.

Bill,
If we're gonna go that far, I could really use some voice activated strings-  As in Play Strings Now.

The more I can take myself out of the equation, the better the bass is bound to sound. =)

Roger sent me a picture of the knobs with the LED's for my. He said the rest will be done next week. These knob were originally to have spalted maple tops but he siad it was too soft so we went with ebony tops and mahogany.
