Ok, not really a versus, just wondered if anyone has both (I'm getting a deja vu that I've been through this but my memory fails me!) and can give an objective comparison. I can't have another SC because of my back/neck, but in future a Kingbass or Stealth could be a possible. Any input?

Oh, and if anyone has played a Jerzy Drozd, I'd be very interested to hear about it...

I have played Jerzy Drozd 'Legend 6'. I felt the bass has very natural and beautifull tone when using piezo output. But tone of magnetic P.U. was not so impressive as piezo and Alembic for me. There are many sound/video clips in Jerzy Drozd web site.

I used to have a Stealth 5 string. Then I traded for a Kingbass Artist (32 scale with the bendwell).

I agree with Karl's thread about the Kingbass. It has a remarkable range of tones, from MK brittle highs to P bass thick low end. Mine has the 16.5mm string spacing, which I think is very close to the SC. I've never played an SC, so I can't really compare the two.

It's a comfortable bass. No neck dive and lightweight. There has been talk that even though it's a med. scale bass, the way it hangs on a person makes the end of the neck seem like a stretch (the original owner of my bass didn't like that about the bass). To me, it's not a problem.

Some more about Jerzy Drozd 'Legend 6'.
The sound of the bass is not like warm tone of wood. It's like raw sound of steel wound string. I felt it natural and beautiful.
The bass has very HiFi sound and no coloration.
I think it's a good instrument, it's so charming at treble, but not so densely at bass as Alembic.
Although it has hollow body, weight is not light enough. Neck is a little wide and thick. 36frets fingerboard is difficult to slapping at usual position. Finish is very nice.

Thanks for the link to the thread, I had a feeling I'd been involved in a discussion before. Someone fairly near me was actually selling a Kingbass Artist on ebay recently; the auction ended with no bids. I wonder if they've still got it? Not that I have the funds at the moment without selling something else, and I'd feel a bit awkward getting in touch with them just to try it.

Thanks also for the information on the Jerzy Drozd; I'm still very interested in trying one.

I think my only real option Alembic-wise if my Triple O doesn't work out would be an Essence, but as I've said before I'd feel bad going from my Triple O (the bass of my dreams) to an an Essence (not that there's anything wrong with an Essence!), which whilst nice would feel like a step backwards. Plus it would probably cost as much for a new Essence as I'd get for my Triple O, which is not a calculation I really like the look of.

Dan, thanks for your input too. I loved my SC, except for the ergonomics, which is why I was wondering about a comparison. As I said in the other thread, I did play a Kingbass Artist once but with the setup and amps being all wrong, and having nothing familiar to compare it to, it didn't really help. I obviously need to check one out.

Toshiaki, I'm enjoying learning but am very, very limited as yet (as you can tell ); I hope one day to be able to have a decent conversation in Japanese. It'll be a long, long time (if ever) before my Japanese is as good as your English!

I too have something of an interest in the Jerzy Drozd Barcelona; it sounds very interesting, and looks cool. And only weighs about 6 pounds I believe (less than 3 kilo). There is some footage of Carles Benavent playing his Barcelona on YouTube.

I don't know is it possible to download from YouTube or not. When I found good clips on YouTube, I only add them to my favourites.

Glad you enjoyed the clip Toshiaki. I have to say, even if I had a Japanese-English dictionary in my hand, my Japanese still wouldn't be anywhere near as good as your English!
