A bass guitar magazine that ignores Alembic is about as credible as a sports car magazine that pays no attention to Porsche and Ferrari.

Its almost like fetish for us Alembic lovers. I just watched a bit of JT's tribute concert and kept straining to catch Jimmy Johnson on the tube. (he sounded amazing in the mix) I've made my peace that most zines don't cover or feature Alembics. So I check ebay every day and this forum. C'est la guerre!

is that show worth buying? I picked it up in HMV last week then put it down again as I wasn't sure if JT appears on it. A brief review would be a great help.

It was a lot of artists performing James Taylor's songs, for James Taylor. Sting, Bonnie Raite, Alison Krauss, Dr. John, Taj Mahal, Sheryl Crowe, David Crosby, Jackson Brown and the list goes on. Steve Gadd on Drums, JJ on bass etc. If you love JT it might be nice to have. I love his music but I'm not crazy about all the performers and teir performances of his tunes. The bass sounded awesome on my home system.

I saw it on TV and I agree with Danno. I wasn't crazy about all of the performances (although I absolutely loved one of them). To reinforce what Danno said, JT's band, and thus Jimmy, backs all of the performers. And even on TV, Jimmy's bass sounded great (old-timey over-the-air reception, but it does go through a nice stereo with subwoofer). James sings one or two songs at the end.

Thanks Dave and Danno. I guess it's probably worth a trip out to HMV tomorrow to try and pick it up. I was inspired to watch Pull Over last night when I got home. Nothing like some JT and a nice Pinot Noir to Chill things out a bit;-)
