New issue with Patitucci on the cover...page 18, the story on Ivan Bodley.  Looks like an Exploiter or Spider off to the side.  Not mentioned under the adjacent Gear heading.  Another example of the previously purported BP Alembic cover-up conspiracy?

It's a bit hard to tell from the picture but it appears to be an 8 string too.  You would think that would've been enough to get it at least at the bottom of the gear list.
There's been a lot of speculation on this board about why BP acts like Alembic doesn't exist.  It's a little like the Cremona Luthier Club forgetting to invite Stradivari to the summer barbeque.  The only time they mention Alembic is when it's associated with someone they can't ignore, like Stanley.
Whatever!

Over here in the UK we must be a month behind as I just bought the latest copy to hit our shelves and the cover feature is BX3.

Most US monthlies seem to be published one month ahead of the published month. Whatever for?

I've often wondered that myself.  It's been that way as far as I can remember.

I was a charter subscriber to Bass Player when it first came out. I was a subscriber for years too. They used to have a great magazine but then the ads out numbered the articles. The gear reviews seemed more like ads than unbiased opinions.

I can find plenty of info and good reviews free on the net.

Guitar Player too, in fact all the guitar magazines I've read never met a product they didn't like.

I know the answer to the month ahead question 'cause I'm an ex-comic collector.

It's simple.  The idea is that you put out the, say, January issue (by which I mean the issue that actually COMES OUT in January with FEBRUARY on the indicia IN ORDER TO TRICK THE PERSON WHO PULLS OF THE OLD MAGAZINES to LEAVE IT THERE FOR ANOTHER MONTH.

It's that simple.  And silly.  But they've been doing it for years!  So it probably works.

Yeah, as I heard it put:

The date on the magazine is when it's supposed to come off the rack.

By the way, I have the utmost contempt for Bass Owner magazine -for the reasons others have stated, and others.

For me, they have no integrity, and no relevance.  They seem to pose or represent themselves as some authority or frame of reference -but while they talk the talk, they don't walk the walk.

And the whole ignoring Alembic thing... that in itself discredits them.

For clarification, what I mean is, they have no objectivity... they show this very clearly.
