Hi, I am a big fan of John Paul Jones' and Geddy Lee's Rickenbacker tone. I am trying to get my Alembic to sound close to their tones'. They are obviously not identical tones but they have similar characteristics (btw I'm refering to Jones' Alembic tone on Presence and In Through the Outdoor). They are what I would call upfront tones that are rough and cut through the mix; they both seem (to me) to have boosted mids and are very 'present'. They also seem to have a little boost in treble to give them some 'clank' sound. I use an Ampeg pre-amp and/or a Sansamp pre-amp and also a compressor. I was wondering if anybody had suggestions as to how to E.Q. my amps to get close to either of these tones that would be great. I love the sound of my Rickenbacker and I usually use that for Geddy type things, but it is uncomfortable and awkward to play. So I want to set my Alembic (which has Anniversary Electronics) to sound as much like my Rickenbacker as I can. Thanks.
