Me too- I'm out of the direct line of fire (10 miles North), but my folks place was evacuated last night and my 2 sisters are evacuated as well.

If the winds don't die down there isn't going to be much left of North County SD.

Whereabouts are you Ed?  My folks place is North Poway (Hwy 67) and my 2 sisters are both in the Rancho Bernardo area...

I'm keeping my fingers crossed and sending out some high humidity vibes from the north.  Good luck.

The situation is Southern California is heartbreaking.  The reports I'm reading show that people are out helping each other as much as they can.  Those of you who are in the effected area, when you get a chance, let us know that you are ok.

Thank you all for the support, We are under a state of emergency in Southern California. Toby my thoughts go out to you and to your family in Orange county. I am located 25 miles north of L.A. in the santa clarita valley. Castaic area. Been evacuated since late Sunday night. The only road to my property was still closed as of midnight Monday. We are wishing for calm wind and relief for our brave firefighters.-Ed

Ed,

I hear you- I have 5 family members evacuated in SD county (Poway, Rancho Bernardo, Scripps Ranch and Fallbrook).  I spent all Sunday night evacuating my folks place down to my sisters- only to have them have to evacuate several hours later.  I'm in Temecula and we have 2 new small fires burning to the immediate south and west.

Good luck to you and yours- stay safe and keep us up to date.

Ed - Good news!  That whole evacuation thing is the worst part of it.  For hurricane Katrina, I was not allowed back into my neighborhood for something like 6 weeks!  Being away from home and not knowing anything is the hardest part.

Supposedly the heat's gonna go down in the next couple days. It's weird here. Yesterday you could smell the fires, and the sky was orange.
