Just four for me:
1973 Guild Starfire II with frets removed in '97 (factory custom stereo)
1997 Epic fretted (walnut purchased new)
1998 Epic fretless (purchased off Ebay in 2001)
1981 Distillate (Koa over mahogany, purchased used at GC)

Since I'm just playing local bars, i only take two to each show.

Well, I have 6 basses, 7 if you count my kid's Fernandes Elephant Bass.

They are:
* Alembic Series I (1987 purchased used.  Least played.  Partly 'cause it's a 4 string and partly 'cause it rarely leaves the house.)
* Alembic Mark King Dlx / Series II 5 string (custom ordered in 2000.  My main bass)
* Marchlewski custom 5 string (2003, custom order. Tied with Roscoe for 3rd/4th in playing time)
* Roscoe LG-3005 fretless (2007 custom order. Tied with Marchlewski for 3rd/4th playing time)
* Fender Jazz (Total mutt.  Assembled from parts of 3 different basses plus Audere preamp.  Gets played when I just feel like clowning around or just to get back to my 4-string roots.)
* Devon Diamond J5 (bought used in 2008.  Currently gets 2nd most playing time)

Pics of the whole herd can be found in this thread:

I'll play.

Basses:

Alembic JPJ custom
Alembic Rogue 5 (basically a custom instrument, only thing that makes it a Rogue still is the body shape)
Modulus Q4 - heavily modified over the years, with second generation 2Tek bridge, EMG HZ pickups, Aguilar OBP3 preamp, brass nut.
Musicman Stingray 5
Mike Lull M4V fretless
Rogue 8-string (surprisingly good tone from such a POS)
brandless P bass clone that I built

Guitars:

Aria 12-string acoustic
Jackson Dinky
Washburn 7-string

Fender Tele with 1973 neck and electronics, Shark ash body (don't ask)

Oh, I must - I must!
Just what is a shark ash body?  A subspecies of ash?  A carving?  Do tell  (and, of course a picture)!

PS - I'm sitting here coveting your M-36 - nicest thing Martin ever made, IMHO.

Rami, all I have to say is NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Just lay low, the fever will pass. Just don't purchase anymore.....for awhile. Your bass purchases reflect a part of you. Whomever your going to spend the rest of your life with should be able to accept you for who you are. As far as What was I thinking It's what we are all thinking. We are simply reaching out, sonically, emotionally and musically. Your purchases are part of the process. Your one of the few that inspires the club.

Gee, thanks for the kind words Barry.  A couple of times I tried to sell what I thought would be an easy Bass to part with:

I took it to my dealer for consignment.  Each time I got a terrible case of separation anxiety.  I RAN back, grabbed it and took it home again.  I'd spend a week or so apologizing to it. I'd make amends with a fresh set of strings and a good polishing and cleaning.  There's something about an Alembic that makes it so hard to part with.

Cozmik Cowboy,

the Tele (don't have a picture, but I will work on it) was owned by someone who decided that the original body should be carved out at the back like a strat body.  Made a royal mess of it.  A friend of mine bought it and put an Ash body on it, made by a company called Shark, one of the early replacement-part/do-it-yourself guitar part purveyors.  He then put it on sale on a consignment basis at a store in Ottawa.  Another friend of mine saw it, bought it, and showed up at my apartment offering a straight trade for the Tele against my hard-tail 1980 sunburst strat.  I took the trade. A good trade, and a good story too.

the Martin is indeed lovely - I just had the neck reset and some other work done on it, and it is truly a lovely guitar - best sound ever.  I note that Martin is making them again, and no wonder.

I will try to get a picture of the tele happening.

cheers.

Rick

Our collection of instruments includes:

Electric basses
95 Epic 4
98 Epic 5
2000 Tacoma Thunderchief AEB Guitar
Peavey P/J copy

Bass violin ? c. 1910 German

1 cello
1 viola (Tony Balleck)

20 violins:
8 Tony Balleck violins (1960 ? 1997)
John Juzek (19-teens)
Laurentius Storioni (1770)
August Glass (1836)
Francois Lupot (1750) Unfortunately this violin was broken apart in a car wreck.  The top was shattered beyond repair.  My father-in-law bought it for $2000, made a new top, patched together the rest, and ended up with a really nice fiddle, although the value is nowhere near that of an all original Lupot.
Hopf (date unknown)
7 other violins

2 banjos
Vega Senator 5 string ? late 1940s
Vega Pete Seeger 5 string ? early 1960s

3 trumpets including my 1970 Bach Strad from H.S.

2 Selmer clarinets (could only find 1 for the pic)
1 Selmer Bari Sax

2 upright acoustic pianos
1 electronic keyboard

Total = 38
