I make no bones about it being a RTF fan for over 30 yrs now. Yesterday I received the DVD of the RTF reunion tour and I must say that I was extremely pleased! These guys have unbelievable stamina considering the amount of notes, passages, interludes, and solo length. For all of you Stanley Clarke admirers, in my opinion, he proved why he attained his status as the premier bassist of both Double bass and Bass guitar. Stanley, in my opinion, makes playing the Double bass look easy! You can immediately sense his love of playing bass. On the Alembic bass, Stanley once again takes playing bass guitar to a new level with his speed, power and grace, once again you can see how much he just loves playing bass! Chick Corea is absolutely phenomonal! It is hard to believe that he is well into his 60's and playing with such power and grace. Chick is such a great writer and an inspiration! Al DiMiola and just a virtuoso period! Al displays his love of playing as well as his down right enjoyment of jamming! Lenny White is just what RTF needs to hold everything together with his rhythmic articulations! I do not know how he manages to remember everything to play! Lenny did not miss a beat in performing his poly rhythms.And he accomplishes these amazing feats just weeks after having rotator cuff surgery on his right shoulder! I know this for a fact because during the meet and greet session in Philadelphia when my arm was in a sling from that particular surgery Lenny asked me what happened to me shoulder and that's when he said that he had the same surgery. Anyway, I encourage all out there that appreciates great musicianship to purchase the CD, you will not be dissapointed! Thank you RTF for continuing to inspire me! And Thank you to Alembic for creating such magnificent basses!
