Hi  Dave. I am currently having the best YouTube experience with Fire Fox 3.5.2 on an old Apple dual 1.25GHZ with 2 Gigs of RAM . I am using two 75gig 10k rpm SCSI ultra320  hard drives configured in RAID level 0 in OS 10.4.11

I think that the more bandwidth that you have on your internet connection the better your experience will be. I find that you need at least 3 mbps speed for an enjoyable view . You can test your speed at http://speedtest.net   also at http://2wire.com

Wolf; my download speed as measured at speedtest is 3mbps.

Answering my own poll; 3.  I often have trouble with youtube vids on both Firfox (currently 3.0.13, haven't upgraded to new version yet) and MS Internet Explorer 8.0.6.  I'm on an HP laptop with 2.00GHz processor and 1GB of ram running Windows XP.

I noticed that Fire Fox 3.5.2 was much faster on my hardware then the previous version.

Older versions of firefox used to suck. I kept a copy of IE just so I could look at YouTube. The current firefox version has been flawless for me. I vaguely recall looking at my plug-ins and add-ons to disable some unnecessary crap before it became stable.

We do have pretty consistent 10/2 service here, though.

I am running off a Mac quad pro 16 gig of memory and have never had a problem with you tube except on my old windows machine, it was maxed out on front side bus/hard drive etc...but when my memory got to full from music files it would interrupt my computer playback, especially on video applications, when I cleaned it up and defrag the system you tube would run better, you might need to get an external hard drive note book which is what I had to do to free up and store my music files to make things run better, I use a western digital that although Mac doesn't read everything windows, I transferred it to my mac because I had some files that I saved and wanted to be able to bring them to Mac.

Utilizing IE 8 connecting via a cable network provider at a 5MB downstream.
Here is another interesting testing site http://performance.toast.net/
