As I was browsing thhe NY Times website there was an article about Ornette Coleman and low and behold his bass player can be seen in the background playing what appears to be a Persuader? Not as familiar with the basses as I with the guitars.

Apparently, the bass player is Andy Macdowell.

That's high energy fusion for sure, I remember seeing Michal  Urbaniak  a long time ago in  San Francisco at the old  Keystone Corner in the North Beach District. That must have been back around  the mid 1970's  . Of course he had a different line up of musicians .  Thanks for the link to the video Dave .I hope  that if Andy Macdowell plays with Ornette when I go see him he will bring an ALEMBIC BASS !

When I him in Portland last year he had 3 bass players and a vibes player. Very cool show. At that time the fretless bass player was playing an Essence 5 string fretless. I love the way Ornette plays trumpet like Miles. Although I heard it drove Miles nuts. I think it's cool that the old cat still picks up new things and incorporates them into his show!
