And in the end, the love you take, is equal to the love you make...

A friend loaned me the Cheap Trick Sgt. Pepper project this weekend.  They played it start to finish with the Golden Slumbers/The End as a show closer.  A benefit performance in LA with an Indian band for Within You/without You, the NY Philharmonic for orchestral bits, a couple extra players to flesh out the parts.

I really had to hand it to them, especially for a set of works that were studio-only creations.
Very faithful charts and engineered by Geoff Emerick.  Unfortunately not produced by George Martin.  In spots it sounds like Cheap Trick playing Beatles covers, and amazingly the tempos were usually rushing by the end of each tune, amazing that this was not corrected in post production, much less that Bun E rushed like that, especially dragging an orchestra along.

This Fab Faux stuff was both letter perfect and very soulful, amazingly well done.

As a hopeless Beatlemaniac, I could not have enjoyed it more.  Why on Earth doesn't Macca just hire these guys for his tours?

My 13 year old daughter thought that this was fantastic!  I am grateful that she listens to The Beatles (a lot).
