I'm a huge fan as well, but I didn't even know he was ill.  That voice was the epitome of Heavy Metal.

A big loss for many fans all over the world. He has been making his great voice heard for many years and still sounded great. He was also a class act always. Humility and appreciation for his fans was always the impression I got. The Mob Rules is one of favorite songs of all time.

I'm bummed, but he left a great metal legacy. I really like the recent Heaven and Hell concert DVD - basically the Dio version of Black Sabbath, playing and sounding GREAT! Definitely a huge loss. I don't normally post on these kinds of threads, but I'm really feeling this one...

I've never heard this song before or seen the video, but I like it! Found it posted on another forum:

Glorious voice!

Roger Glover & Guests' Love is all was a huge hit in the Netherlands, reaching #1. It actually replaced the horrid Una Paloma Blanca of the George Baker Selection (whose earlier hit Little Green Bag shot to fame in recent years through a Tarantino film).

Ah, to be 9 or 10 again! Uh, well, much like my son is these days. Together we put up a couple of shelves in the garden shed yesterday.

Here's the Wikipedia page on The Butterfly Ball and the Grasshopper's Feast, the concept album that originally featured Love is All.

I enjoyed Ronnie in all of his musical incarnations. He always brought a poetic sensibility to each band. The first Rainbow album is still one of my favorites.

i think we'd be missing something if we didn't point out that, in addition to his awesome musical contributions to metal, he pretty much single handedly gave us this:

rip dio.

They were coming to Brazil and canceled the tour saying Dio got to care a throat's cancer just a month ago. What happened?

I'm not a Metal fan, but I can't understand why our local news wrote so little about his death and  carrer...

Rip Dio!
