Just got back. Band was in fine form his bass sounded great drummer was amazing. First show I'be been to where I didn't have to wear earplugs. Great crowd, very up and happy and he seemed surprised at the great response. Glad I finally got to see the band after 30 years.
He used new Status king basses for this show.

Hey Danno,

I have seen Mark and iterations a few times, in the 1980s and 1990s. Towards the latter years, there seemed to be an urgency to the shows demonstrated by the accelerated tempo. Songs (and patterns) that originally grooved at 120BPM were not so great at the NASCAR speed of 140+BPM live. Did you find the performances to be closer to the recorded tempos?

And how (in general) do club members feel about the live versions of your favorite recorded songs?

I've always been a jam band kind of guy (I never remember exactly how I played a tune the last time). Of course, a well turned unison phrase will snap my head around as well. As a result, I've always had a preference for live recordings of my favorite artists because the spontaneity of jazz and jam-type arrangements can make each performance a new event for all involved.

The tempos were a bit faster and they did have some tracks going on but they had extended arrangements for the live setting. They played for about an hour and 40 and Mark had a problem with a loop pedal that went distorted a few times which cut his solo spot a bit.
