Alembics ratios...

In comparing ratios of a new $600 US bass x 10
or $6,000 US -- approximate price of a new Alembic.
 
Using the same ratios (x 10)applied to the average price a car... = $13,000 US  
 
You could drive a new:
 
1. 911 Turbo,  
2. Bolwell Nagari  
3. Mercedes 600 series
4. Spirra
5. Maserati GranTurismo S
6. Maranello Ferrari
7. Mustang Shelby
8. Lamborghini Gallardo Nera
 
If you apply this same concept to Series Basses  
You could drive a new:
 
1. Rolls Royce Phantom
2. Lamborghini Murcielago
3. Mecedes-Benz SLK McLaren
4. Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano
5. Callaway Speedster
6. Ferrari Enzo
 
Owning an Alembic, is as good as it gets. You can believe that with real numbers!

No, this was not my point...
 
I was speaking to how objects of the same classification vary in price; thus from such price, I derived the ratios to an object of a different class.
 
Therefor, if you have 150 grand to spend on a car, your standards (if applied to a bass...) would be on par -- to own an Alembic. GET IT!?

I got it. And i am getting ready to order another one. Alembic that is....My car just gets to me to work ( I need a new car worse than a new Alembic, whatever.). An Alembic moves my soul! To each his own. John

I have a 1990 300zx TT and at the time, it was compared to sports cars many classes above the price of this car.
 
To this day,this car still holds its own against cars that costs thousands more, so though I get your original point, there are some other gems out here that are very underrated.  My Peavey Cirrus comes to mind.
 
Even so, I really can't ever see myself purchasing anything but Alembic in the future.  Love the sound, feel, and quality.

But if I understand you Hal, your saying that if you can afford it, you should buy an Alembic bass?
 
I wholeheartedly agree, good advice.
 
I would also add that if you have only $200, and you find a cool used bass that grabs your fancy, that it's infinitely superior to spend that $200 on an entire bass, than whatever small portion of an Alembic you could get for the same money.
 
I have an Epic, a Europa, and a couple of $200 used basses. They all feed my soul and bring me great joy.

It's an MG Midget mk 3, not bugeye (or frogeye as it's known this side of the pond). I've had it for the better part of 30 years although it's been off the road since '97. Restoration began in earnest 2 years ago. I was hoping to have finished the bodywork and got it painted by the end of August, then I could have spent the winter cleaning and installing all the parts. Unfortunately I'm still waiting for a panel to be made which is holding up progress on the rear end. I have all the front end panels in sealer and primed, and I've just cut off the rear wings to find even more rust that'll need cutting out. At least I've become pretty proficient at welding :-)
