Haven't seen any mention of SC's latest album, The Stanley Clarke Band, up here yet, so I just thought I'd throw this out there, for anyone who hasn't heard it yet.
It's well worth a listen: lots of Alembic noises going on, and Stanley sounds more fired up than he has for a long time - there's everything you'd expect: blistering lead bass solos, a couple of gorgeous upright Bass Folk Songs, and a great slap bass funk workout (I Wanna Play For You Too).
Added bonuses are the ever-inspiring Hiromi is there on keys with him, and a couple of compositions from the other musicians involved, including Hiromi herself, and Armand Sabal-Lecco, where Stanley, again, perhaps because it's not his material per se, sounds like he's really giving it everything.
Great stuff, anyway. It's certainly inspired me to go back and listen to Stan's back catalogue again, which had been gathering dust in my attic for a while.
