Happy Thanksgiving
« on: November 24, 2010, 02:52:05 PM »
It's a day early, but since I'm leaving a little early today, I wanted to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. Though it's a uniquely American holiday, the thought of pausing to give thanks doesn't know any nationality.

My list of thanks is really too long to enumerate here, but in Alembic land, I'm thankful for the wonderful craftsmen I'm lucky enough to work with, for my customers that continue to amaze me with their creativity, and for the Alembic Club which still makes me pinch myself regularly that so many wonderful people manage to hang out and share so much of each other with very little discord.

So from me, my family, and everyone here at Alembic, have a wonderful and most delicious Thanksgiving.

Well, we have something similar in Germany which is called Erntedankfest. But it is more a religious holiday, celebrated at the first Sunday in October in the churches, where people thank God for the harvest.
For those you can read German:
http://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Erntedankfest
It has a long tradition, going back to the 3. century.

Happy Thanksgiving to the New World
;-))

BTW: Wouldn't it be a nice idea to have a thanksgiving day for all the bass guitars in the world? Not eatable but bringing a lot of joy through the music .... oh well ...
