Lemon Oil
« on: December 22, 2010, 06:29:42 PM »
I just bought a used bass with an ebony fretboard. I can't find pure lemon oil anywhere. I bought a bottle last year at Bath and Body Works but they do not carry it any more. I have also checked aroma therapy stores and even wood working shops. No luck so far. Any suggestions?

2 second search on Net = http://www.amazon.com/Boyajian-Pure-Lemon-Oil-ozs/dp/B002A603ZY

You can probably save a couple of bucks if you search more, but time is money.

I saw that one but I don't think it is the same as what I used in the past. This one states that it is for cooking. I saw it on another site and in the description it stated that it is flammable. I assume that means that it contains some sort of chemical or alcohol.

I use the Boyajian lemon oil.  They even sent me a little bottle of wasabi oil for free when I ordered my bottle of lemon oil.  By the way, a little bit goes a long way.  My bottle has lasted at least 3 or 4 years now - I keep it in the fridge.

Natural foods stores are a good place to look.  There's a place called Good Health Natural Foods over in Hanover, and there's a Whole Foods Market in Hingham.

Boyajian lemon oil is flamable?  It does not state so on the bottle, and this stuff is used for baking/cooking, so I don't think it is.  I've used this oil since Bob Novy pointed me in that direction back in 2004.  Funny, that last bottle I bought was about $12, plus shipping, maybe eight months ago.  And I got a little bottle of wasabi oil, too!  It was on sale.  Ya!  Amazon is a place to easily find what you are looking for, but I generally buy stuff elsewhere.  A buck saved is one less buck I have to scavenge for the next time I want to buy an Alembic bass I MUST have.  So . . .

Thanks again Bob!

Ever see a pallet of vanilla extract on a truck?  Flammable Liquid stickers all over, and haz mat placards on the trailer.  Flammable doesn't preclude baking.

Went to Whole Foods today and picked up the pure lemon oil. They have several different brands and sizes. Thanks again Sonicus.

Or you could call my wife, Dawn, at www.artscent.com or 720 563 0344, and mention that you are calling from the Alembic club. She offered up a discount for us for her aromatherapy grade lemon oil. We'll be back in Boulder on Thursday.
