Anyone tried these acoustic platforms for bass? Are the reviews hype? - About ?40 in UK and there is a gig bag for an extra ?37. Glynn

I've got one I've used with a guitar amp. I suppose it works but, truthfully, I've never noticed a huge difference. I can't imagine that you'd need a gig bag for it, though. It's one piece, light, has a handle, and no moving parts.

In our studios, we put one under the Genelec subwoofer, but eventually removed it, as it didn't do much for the room. We were using them to troubleshoot a problem in the low frequency range, but we eventually realized that it was some open rack spaces behind the engineer that was trapping the bass.

What do you want to use it for?

I find them primarily useful on overly resonant stages, sometimes also on large concrete pads. My main amp these days is as Mesa Walkabout Scout 12, so having the downfiring passive radiator doubtless colors my perceptions.

Yes- the feel coming through so far is OK but....! Carpeted rooms aka some pubs and restaurants would probably achieve same. G

Are these things of any use for soundproofing? I was thinking of getting one as a bass amp riser in my under-construction soundproof room. Currently my rig (rack and 4 x 10 cab) is on wheels. We just put in a floating floor (rubber isolation feet between the base slab and the floor joists, topped with double plywood separated with acoustic glue) so this Gramma may be somewhat redundant...

I built some sound proof rooms in hospitals years ago. 1 thick lead back drywall..1 space..3 1/2 insulated wall ...
then other side wall...1 space.....1/2 sound board and 5/8 drywall.
It was sound proof!
