Double bass question
« on: May 19, 2011, 01:52:42 PM »
Hi guys, I'm watching a few double basses on ebay at the moment with a view to getting one of them. I just wonder if anyone has one and can confirm it will fit in my car. I don't know what the length of a DB is but my car is a 2004 BMW 730. Its the standard wheel base not the LWB model.

Thanks in advance.

bass sizes aren't standardized, so the length depends on the luthier. but it should fit, and will definitely fit if your front passenger seat folds down. sometimes it just takes a little creativity. I recently got a new bass from Upton in Connecticut and they told me they can fit just about all of their basses in the head luthier's mini cooper.

I have a 3/4 DB (Knilling) and have to take the passenger seat out of my 93 Jeep Wrangler to get it to fit. UNLESS it is warm enough to have the top down - then she just sticks her head out the back.
