Aluminum Double Bass
« on: September 09, 2011, 11:23:48 AM »
Well this was definitely a new one for me.  I came across an aluminum bodied double bass in a local craigslist ad: http://columbiamo.craigslist.org/msg/2589892484.html

I also found a video of one being played, although it's bit of a bad recording: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Au5_S8mpqbQ

upton bass had one of these in their shop a while back, although it was definitely different than the on you've found.
here's a link to what they found out about it:

IMHO, the old growth aluminum is far superior to the aluminum of today.  It takes a while for the aluminum to forget that it was a bunch of Coke cans.

Hopefully the federal government won't raid the factory and confiscate pallets of aluminum.

Nah, we're cool.  Judging by the 24 pack in my fridge it's not an endangered species.
