Fine handcrafted food and drinks?
« on: March 06, 2012, 07:58:52 PM »
Hey All,

Not sure if this has been posted yet or not... I apologize if it's a repeat.

I came across this bar/restaurant yesterday while I was in San Francisco playing a concert with pianist/composer Harold Budd (shameless plug)

I immediately thought of my fellow Alembic lovers and snapped a pick to share with you all.  It's on Haight Street in the colorful Haight-Ashbury district. I didn't have time to eat (or drink) but I did go in and grab some matches (couldn't pass that opportunity up!). It seemed a very popular spot. Has anybody been there?
It was a bit surreal to see such a historic name, so closely tied to the area as a pioneering instrument building being used for a bar name.
Am I missing something here... have the good folks at Alembic gone into the food and drink business and I'm the last one to know about it?

Well, makes sense to me.  An alembic (small a) is a still, if I'm not mistaken.  ;)

Cheers!

John

Send me one of those hippye sandwiches!
Not just a bass, this is an Alembic!
