hadn't seen this before,
no Alembic to be seen,but a great performance , and check out that PA (not to mention Fossen's studly shirt !! )

Pretty awesome stuff. Cool right hand technique from Fossen on Heartless that I'd never noticed him do before, but that I certainly recognize the tone from a number of their other songs.

I wonder if Fossen looks back at videos like this and cringes at his wardrobe choices. LOL. I mean, that sucker sure highlighted his bare nipples and all, but.... LOL.

I'm know we'll be doing the same thing 35 years from now with modern clothing choices, but I couldn't resist.

Just finished watching. Even then, just after the release of their first album, Ann had an incredible command and presence.

I remember seeing them playing at various clubs around Vancouver as they were recording their first album at Mushroom Studios.

WOW - that was cool - I have always liked Heart - that was really cool. And yes, the clothes are pretty bad - are those jester shorts??? And the nipple vest w/ studs LOL

Love the Ovation guitar. And the hair!

And, I bet Ann was a fun girl back in the day!!!

I thought Ann already was a little darling. ;-)

They do look a lot like Heil to me. I used to use their horns on my PA back in the day. Heart used this same equipment when I saw them in the mid 70's. It was definitely impressive.

So all this prompted a little Heart homework, and so today I've come home with their 'The Road Home', to me one of the best of the 'UnPlugged'-ish projects . . . . . no doubt as it was produced by John Paul Jones. Recommended by Me !

Cool! Saw them in '76 in Toledo; unfortunately had to sit through Walter Egan & Foreigner to get to them. Great show, and I will admit to impure thoughts about both Wilsons.

I asked my good friend and speaker guru Doug, if that white wall of speakers was Heil.
He responded with an emphatic 'NO'
...he thinks they were built by a carpenter/audio enthusiast Greg Boykin (sp?) who was building installations in the NW back then.

My friend ,who was working for the JBL warranty shop at the time ,
said Mike Fisher came to him for a bunch of D130 frames, cones , and dust caps .
So we gather that not all those cabs were loaded with active speakers...just an educated guess

He remembers those white PA bins catching fire at Discovery Park in Seattle.
Apparently what speakers were loaded in it weren't meant for lots of power.
(sorta makes sense since the mics are all in front of it).

He doesn't recall if it was ever rebuilt after that. I'm not sure of the date, I couldn't find a reference to the concert with a quick google search.

Doug also recalls a shortage of smaller JBLs when they were building the Wall(s) of Sound for the Dead.
One of the crew called his shop and said:
I'll take ALL you've got .
