A Major Milestone in Music History

On September 5th, fifty years ago, this simple little tune was released; and everything changed after that.  Nice article on the history here.
 
Fifty years.  A major turning point in music history; one that affects all of us here in the forum immensely, not only musically but culturally as well.  And it was such a simple little tune that started it all.

I was just out of the birth time as I was only 5 years old but they are one of my favourite bands. I bet that most of us on this forum(if not all of us) have played a Beatles tune in there set list with a band.
Not bad for four scallywags from Liverpool(said in a scouse accent!)

I'm sure there are others who can relate, to some degree, to what happened to me when I first saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show.  It opened a new world to me.  It was like when Dorothy opened the door to Oz and saw color for the first time.  Upon seeing the Beatles, the path of my life and who I would become very quickly changed.  I'm not even really talking about the importance of music.  I'm talking about the fact that such a big part of my psyche was formed by what started to happen to the world soon after Ed introduced them.  
I know this sounds really corny, but it was a very clear experience for me.  I'm very happy that I was around (even starting at 7 years old) to experience the Beatles, Stones, Zep, Who, the list goes on and on.  It was a magical time to be alive.

I was a bit young to remember the first few Beatles albums being released - although my older brothers had For Sale. But I clearly remember the excitement of each release from Revolver onwards.

I was raised on all era's of the Beatle collection. Guitar Hero(or something similar) has made it possible for us to hear isolated bass tracks on youtube.  No matter what bass Paul plays, he gets amazing tone.

A funny story...in 1965 my Dad was manager of an Odeon theater in Glasgow; the Beatles were playing there and my Dad wouldn't let my Mom see the show as she was very pregnant with me and he was afraid she'd get trampled...he was probably right! He said they were all really nice...the same year the Stones played there and they got really drunk and trashed the dressing room including the destruction of plumbing...Bill and Charlie were nice, but Mick and Keith were assholes and Brian was messed up and my Dad thought he really acted gay...maybe that was part of his problems...I don't think my Mom ever totally got over missing the Beatles...Tony
