Yes I agree, the rudeness of the listeners really was like taking an artist brush and dipping it in water in between strokes, while he was using oil and canvas. I once attended a show in Westport, CT to see Al DiMeola, this was when he just came out with Elegant Gypsy, small 400 seat venue, nice close up, it was awesome, except their was this girl carrying on at the bar laughing loudly during some of the softer melodic passages...
Suddenly Al totally stopped the band from playing and said...Quote I refuse to continue to play until someone in management does something... This is an abolishment to the beauty and creativity of the most expressive form of language in the universe!....I never forgot those words, suddenly the whole crowds eyes turned towards the bar...within seconds she was ask to leave and escorted out, while the crowd stomped and cheered Al back to the stage..5 minutes of shut down, almost cause a mini-riot behold the power of music...Al did piss me off about one thing though, I came to catch and watch those circular pick techniques he was said to use back then, but when ever he did the race of speed lick..he would turn his back to the audience...I was like damn Al, through us a bone will ya!! lol!...needless to say it was a great show...still on of my all time favorite Al tunes is Race with the Devil on Spanish Highway
