Ha! If it snows here in Georgia, everything closes for a month. People forget how to drive here when it bloody rains.

Same here in the Piedmont of NC. The day before the snow or ice storm everybody goes out and buys every available loaf of bread and gallon of milk. They then go home and wait until everything thaws.

High of -1 F predicted here in Minnesota with snow having fallen over all of the last few days (3 feet in some northern areas). Things don't shut down here when it snows or gets really cold, but fewer lives would be lost if it did. We will need to see how many students show up for my class tomorrow morning at 9:00 AM when the predicted temps are expected to be -9 degrees F.

Of course the cross country ski team that I coach will be out there for practice at 3:00 PM since it's only going to be -1 F at that time.

Lifetime Wisconsinite here . . . it is about time for that to change. Getting tired of the cold and snow; gave my nephew all of my ice fishing gear two years ago. Got a motorcycle 4 years ago and have riding withdrawals this time of year. . .

Joey..that certainly isn't unless you have one of those ice speedway bikes with nails on the tyres!

Yes Terry ! those motorcycle ice track races are WILD to say the least!
I can remember when in my younger days riding my old Harley Davidson Shovelhead FLH with no helmet in very cold weather with frost forming on my eye brows and beard. The street had no ice but the frost was due to the wind chill factor. ____

My brother used to do a ride in Alaska called the Frozen Few Run where they rode from Anchorage to Fairbanks in below zero weather! Pretty harsh for a guy from Texas where it is 85 in December!

Yes, Terry, they hibernate for the winter. Fuel stabilizer, dash of oil in the spark plug bores, hooked up to the Battery Tender, roll it back and forth every so often to keep the tires round. Already the did the oil change, air filter change, new plugs, chain adjustment, and now . . . . it just sits there . . . . at least I'm past the point where I go out and sit on it and go 'vroom, vroom . . . . . .'

But, what the hey, springtime and the TT will be here before you know it !!

I am currently without, but when I was up, I made it a point to ride at least once every month; would regularly ride to work in below-freezing temps (there's no such thing as bad weather, just inappropriate clothing). A fellow roadie, on the other hand, had a vehicle collection that consisted of a Cushman Eagle, a Moto-Guzzi Eldorado, and a Harley WL.
In northern Illinois.
Year-round, if he went, he went on 2 wheels. Myself, one try at snow riding (lasting 2 blocks) was more than enouch!
