A Brave band taking on some Return to Forever
« on: April 29, 2014, 09:54:27 AM »
Here is a link I saw today of a band doing a cover of a return to forever track. The bass player sensibly using an alembic bass.

Doing a return to forever covers gig on bass is something close to the top of my bucket list. I wonder if I can rent a series I short scale bass if I find musicians to do such a gig before I acquire my own. :-)

Those are brave men.  I remember doing 500 miles high and Spain with a band when I was in my 20's. It felt great, but I know that my valiant efforts on my Les Paul bass were, well, pathetic.  I would not have the stuff to try this in public now.

I'm learning Spain at the moment for a gig I have in July with my band. We will be doing Al Jarreau's version but as an instrumental.

Ha! I know this guy... he's a club member. And a super cool dude/monster bass player.

Not sure. I could ask, though.

Once did 'Vulcan Worlds' years ago, my solo was no where near as good as Stan's and the sweat poured out of me like a river!

I've done The duel of the Tyrant and the Jester, Sorceress and we almost did Hymn of the seventh galaxy but I was overruled on the run up to the gig.

Maybe I'm crazy... but it's just music, guys. I was under the impression that there are only 12 notes.

I'm crazy too as I can't always get those 12 notes together in a way that makes good music. :-)

Nice!  Great tune, and nice bass solo.  Oh, and very nice bass!
