Awesome! I love that movie, So good...Germans do good war movies: Das Boot for example, and see it with subtitles, not dubbed; great movie...anyway, that had nothing to do with the shows so back to where you were, Tony

German was my  first language. __________From my perspective ; the first problem with that video for me is that the actor who plays Hitler is speaking terrible German . The second problem is that the audio in no way of course matches the fake subtitles , therefore the audio would best be fixed or removed.  Third , I lost relatives at the hands of the Nazis, including my grandfather and my family lost all our farmland and dairy business. I would be a billionaire now if it were not for Mr. Hitler____ All of my family were German citizens and I the only American citizen among them . We did not  know of any Germans who had any love for Nazis.____   Sorry for the HIjack , I just think that video is lame ( I could use stronger words ), from my perspective  ! ( smiles added for  polite decorum only)

Sorry moderators,  I just had to write this ! The Grateful Dead are about musical joy in my life , NOT Nazi's. But then everyone is entitled to their opinion. That is the beauty of the American constitution .
It is mature to agree to disagree with a smile.

I have to agree with Wolf.  I found the video to be in poor taste and just not funny.  What's next, a video of captured Africans chained together in the hull of a nineteenth century ship with subtitles exclaiming how excited they are to be traveling to Chicago for the shows?

I didn't bother to watch it, having seen many other variants of the same video.  I don't find them particularly offensive, but I also don't find them particularly funny.

Sorry I liked the video...take it from the point of view of Hitler being a hardcore Grateful Dead fan and it is funny...of course, genocide and asset theft is not funny and my ancestors were subject to that too (I'm Scottish, and the English...let's leave it at that...) we humans have a lot of hardship in our history, just more recent for some...I usually find humor in horror as a coping mechanism...Damn, this went dark fast, sorry, please go back to debating the merits of a Dead concert...Tony.

Atrocities of treatment towards fellow human beings (actually everything on this planet) are daily occurences.
It is our individual behavior and reaction to them that will define their impact.

With that said the Dead should certainly come to Alpine Valley in East Troy - hands down a much more natural setting then Soldier Field.
Parking on grass, seating on grass, smoking grass vs. Concrete, steel and asphalt.

Pauldo:

I'd concur that Alpine Valley would be a preferred location.  Love what I saw and heard there many, many years ago. I also agree that parking on grass and seating on grass if preferable to what's available at Soldier Field.  Technically, I can't speak to whether it's preferable to smoke grass versus concrete, steel, or asphalt since I've never tried to do that with the latter three.

Me too. They're going to be in Greensboro at the end of May. Just waiting for tickets to go on sale.

Yes, I could do Alpine - maybe even with Trey.  Saw them there in '80, '82, '84, 85, & '86 - a fine time was had by all!

Peter (and before you ask about the gaps, in '81 when they swung through here the band I was doing monitors for was on the road, always a city ahead or behind them - not the same venues - and in '83 they did Poplar Creek instead; good show, but not the Alpine experience.....)

Don't get me wrong - I love the Dead, and still love Phish, just not as much as I used to 20 years ago and I don't think Trey is the right guitarist for this thing - would much rather see them with Scott Murawski or even Matt Salata!
