No Jerry, no Grateful Dead. Except for the anniversary angle nothing different than other post-Jerry tours billed as The Dead except the ticket price and size of venue.
 
I am sure that those who choose to attend will have a good time and the band and promoter will clean up. Nothing wrong with that but also hard to get particularly excited about.

I'm assuming Soldier Field because that was the scene of the last shows in '95.  Saw them there in '91, and that experience (along with Vince) made it my last show.  But as to Chicago itself, my dear Mr. Panzer, we're 'heads here, too* - would love to see them at the Uptown Theater one more time.  But with Anastasio? Not even there.  I'm afraid I may have to give this one a pass; if they had Jimmy Herring with them, maybe - but not Trey - or Soldier Field, a truly horrible venue.

I have nothing against Chi-town, The Windy City, Hog Butcher for the World.  But the appropriate venue for a last gig would be home - the Bay Area, where it all started.

That cracks me up every time I see it too, Bill.  
 
The collective consciousness has been pushing for a mini tour w/ different guitarists at each venue.... I doubt it would happen, but it would be nice if they did a couple of nights at Oakland and MSG beforehand.... boot Billy Joel from his residency, and show him how it's done....

I gotta side with Hawkeye on this one (loved that M.A.S.H. episode). The Billboard article clearly lays out the rationale, but it does seem more appropriate to finish things where they started?not where they ended. I guess, though, being in Chicago will make it easier for people from both coasts to attend.

I've heard through the rumor mill that there will be some other shows. I can't imagine them not playing SF. Of course, Red Rocks makes sense, too. Especially with a week of shows!
