I suspect someone around can give me an answer.

I'm putting together a pedal board and am researching power supplies. I'm leaning towards the Ciok Ciokolate as it seems it will be able to power everthing that will be on the board. The question I have concerns the AC section. I have a Seymour Duncan Twin Tube Classic that requires 16v AC 560 mA. (Though it comes with a wall wart that is rated at 16v AC 600 mA). The outlet on the Ciokolate puts out 16v AC 800 mA. Can I use this 800 mA outlet for this pedal without damaging anything?

Yep, no problem :-)

800Ma means you could use another 16Vac device that takes up to 240Ma on that same outlet :-)

Bill,

Not to hijack the thread, but I've got a Twin Tube Classic as well. I haven't used it in a dog's age and went to try it out this evening. All the lights work and in bypass mode, the signal is fine. When I engage the pedal, I lose my signal entirely. This thing has a preamp tube in it, correct? Do you think this simply could be a bad tube?

Thanks, Flip. I suspected as much, but with the $ I'm putting into this board I don't want to depend on my own limited knowledge. I want to do make sure I do it right.

The Twin Tube Classic uses a pair of mini high spec tubes. I believe you'd still get some bad noise if it were one or both tubes. Did you use the 16v AC adapter? Is there any difference between the rhythm channel and lead channel? Gains and volumes up?

I tried two different 16V AC adapters. Same thing with both...no sound at all when the pedal is engaged. Puzzling. I've contacted Seymour Duncan. heard their customer service was pretty good.

Bill. yes I agree with fc spoiler/flip . Providing that the polarity on the connector is correct and the voltage spec rating as well . A higher amperage rating will be swell and just give you more 'head room . The power supply will not have to work so hard and may even stay cooler.

I would have responded with more brevity but I was out last night .

'tis indeed a puzzlement. Were your AC adapters putting out 16v AC with at least 560mA? The TT requires at least this amount and comes with a wall wart that outputs 16vAC at 600mA. Otherwise, sounds like something important inside just died. Let us know how Seymour Duncan handles it.

Wolf: Thanks for the corroboration. I had always thought the upper limit wasn't critical, just the minimum. But, in doing the research for this new pedal board, I found that Geoffrey Teese (maker of Teese wahs - I have the RMC Picture Wah) says on his site that one should not use a power supply in excess of 200mA. That's what got me thinking about the maximum issue. After further research, the warning from Teese seems to apply to a rare anomaly with his earlier pedals.

Anyway, I pulled the trigger and hit the buy with one click on Amazon for the Ciokolate. Putting this board together really is fun. After much research, I went with a unique design from Temple Audio. Very cool stomp box mounting system - kicks ass on the usual velcro method. I'll start a new thread when I'm done.

Yeah, they have two little tubes hard wired in there, replacement requires un-soldering them.

I bet it's something else wrong, though. I just have a feeling.
