This'll be kind of a ramble but that's what open threads are for, right?

I just spent the day with an old friend who actually lives in southern California these days, but we grew up around here together a very long time ago, and just never lost touch. Seriously, I met her 33 years ago this week... lifetime. Anyway, she had come back to Virginia for a visit with family, (and of course me) so we kinda' spent the day running around the old places. She always had a knack for finding cool places, and today was no exception... there's this place a couple miles from my office called Black Dog Salvage, an *up-cyclcing* outlet, if you follow. They turn salvaged junk into usable home furnishings, somewhat spectacularly.

So we're taking in the sights in this amazing junk outlet, chatting and catching up, and I spot this...

Alembic anyone ?

How about this then ?

So then I had to tell her about the people in northern California who are building my bass, and how these disparate items are connected... I think they call it serendipity. =)
