FWIW: the amount of gear on stage was bordering on overkill, but it was a glorious spectacle for a gear hound like me.
I was about 15-20 feet from the stage, right in front of Warren. I could clearly hear his stage sound, as well as the stage mix of the drums and bass. Due to my location, the keys and vocals were a bit lost, but still audible.
From my vantage point, I heard little or none of the mix coming through the PA.
Two things impressed me: first, the stage volume, though formidable, was not deafening and the overall blend of the instruments was very good and second, the tone of each instrument was pretty accurate to what I was expecting to hear based on what I've heard on various recordings.
This is in contrast to performances by other bands that I've attended where the stage mix is poor and the instruments, guitar in particular, sound nothing like the recordings.
However, further back in the room at these shows, everything sounded correct coming through the PA - go figure.
Hardest working man / band in show business - ?
ABSOLUTELY - Warren and the others gave everything they had for 2-1/2 hours. No phoning it in or sleepwalking through anything that night.
