Northern California Wildfires
« on: September 15, 2015, 09:22:07 PM »
We've received numerous inquiries about our safety with the reports of wildfires here in northern California. While the ash is certainly a minor annoyance here, the fire is far away and we are all safe.

However, the reports are not exaggerating the  devastation caused by the flames. Just in the current blaze, hundreds of homes and over a thousand other structures were burned.

Last check with the CalFire website showed 30% containment of 67,000 acres.

Right now we're all hoping for big El Nino rains this winter.

Prayers gong out to my second home, Northern California.
The loss is devastating. Take care everyone and leave when instructed.

Good to hear! I've been getting my updates from an old friend in Southern California, they got like 2 of rain in Claremont yesterday. Hang on, Fall is coming!

It's supposed to rain a little today. Probably small assistance to the firefight and just enough to make driving dangerous. I love California, but sadly collectively we cannot drive in the rain.

Best wishes and thoughts Mica and family. Being out there last month and the subsequent drive to the backcountry west to Mammoth Mountain driving through drifting brushfire smoke clouds on 580 west & 120 and seeing farm crops dried out (further west), firsthand was pretty profound.
