Headphone amps...whats new in that market?

Any suggestions for some kind of some kind of headphone amp that I can connect my bass and iPod/iphone to and use to learn/play along to tunes?
 
Not sure whats new in that market..Did do a little bit of a google search but didn't come up with anything that looks too exciting.
 
At the moment I have an apogee duet connected to an iMac and use that, but thats a stationary platform, and I'd like to have something I can kick back on the sofa with..

I have the Phil Jones and it is an excellent piece of gear. I also have their headphones and they are great as well. Real clear pure sound. Along with Alembics you really hear the sound of your instrument and your playing technique.

I use this one.  $25 from Amazon.  In order to run the bass and iPod SIMULTANEOUSLY, you'd need some kind of transformer/adapter to go from XLR to Stereo Mini.  There are two input channels, but one is an XLR, commonly used for Mic Pass-Through.

I'll second (or third) the Phil Jones H-850 headphones. They are extremely well made and certainly much more suited to practice use than my main Grados. I have to admit though I'm a PJB guy all around and love the sound I get with an 8T/16B setup.

I'll third the PJB gear. I have the Bass Cub BG100 and it is so useful not only as an AMP along with it's sound as dannobasso described, but as a headphone amp as well. I used it in the studio as my own headphone amp for tracking and it was fantastic. I love this thing.  I have it paired with a HiFiMan HE-6 Headphone and it is NICE!  HiFiMan put out a new set of phones a couple of weeks ago that are selling for $3K, but hmmmm, maybe next year . . . .

It has high-quality stereo and mono condenser mics and some of the best preamps on the market (Yamaha owns 'em now)  inputs for anything you can think of, and Cubase to effortlessly record your musical droppings (gives new meaning to scat singing, don't it?)
 
You can mount it on a boom next to the couch and flick it on to record your impression of Eskimo singing duels with family members, or work out complex tuba parts while watching Molly B.'s Polka Party on RFD-TV (I'm a big fan).
 
WARNING:  don't take it out of the box midweek, or you won't get anything else done. Save it for the weekend. You'll see.

I got the little vox jack plug amp for Christmas and i think it's great. I take it along in my gig bag to gigs so I can warm up before stage time also. It doesn't have all the repeat loops you get on practice machines but if you have a mp3 player that does that you can do it that way. It even has a click track with some basic drum patterns to practice along to. Great bit of kit. Also the sound quality is better than my tascam GB10 and seems to have more headroom before clipping.
