Bay Area events weekend of March 4th?
« on: February 08, 2016, 08:23:37 AM »
Hi all!

Is there anything happening in Alembic world during that time? Dawn, Xander, and I are traveling to SF for a couple of events for her (one of which is a huge boutique perfume and chocolate exposition at Fort Mason, yum!).

It would be fun to meet up if anyone has the time.
Anyone have gigs over that weekend?

Mini-gathering sounds like fun. So does a chocolate exposition, boutique perfume not so much. Is the Fort Mason exposition open to the public?

It is open to the public, although a ticket is required.

Don't knock the scent thing until you check it out! I'm married to the Esperanza Spaulding of the fragrance world (it's hard to find an analogous personality, because Dawn covers such a wide range of styles and artistic statements with depth and expertise). It's not like going to the department store.

Anyway, a mini gathering sounds awesome! I'd love to bring my bass, although it's a bit cumbersome in its flight case.

Hey Edwin

I am sure there are colognes that refined and are quite nice. Guess it was more that cologne and chocolate seemed like a strange pairing to me. The propensity of people to wear way too much cheap cologne or aftershave can certainly give the impression that all scents are to be avoided. So can walking through a department store or going to a Dead related show and choking on patchouli  A musical analogy would be walking into a Guitar Center and being bombarded by a lot of awful noise that sounds more like WWIII than music.

Thanks for the link, will check it out, my wife is a chocoholic.

Hope some form of gathering comes together so we get a chance to meet during your trip West. Would love to see your bass but understand the hassle of traveling with an instrument unless you really have to.

I have to say that I agree with your assessments 100%!

But if all you've ever heard in music is punk and Kenny G how would you ever know about Bach and Sun Ra? :-)

Anyway, it's occurring to me that maybe if I did bring the bass, I'd have the opportunity to bring it to have some work done. Or at least an assessment. That would mean that I'd have to open myself to the embarrassment of having my soldering work scrutinized by the masters, though....
