Wanted - Double Neck Bass/6 String
« on: April 05, 2005, 08:59:23 PM »
I'm looking for a double neck guitar. 4 to 6string bass on one neck and a 6 string guitar (not bass) on the other neck. The guitarist I work with just got one and we're talking about switching off guitar/bass duties during songs as a novelty and show thing. (We both play bass/guitar and keys) I don't care what make it is. i know there's NO WAY I can afford to have Alembic build one for me. I'll look into any brand as long as it's in good shape and would even consider trading my 95 Epic 5 string for the right double neck.

:-) That was the double neck MY guitarist just picked up! Small world! The necks both needed major adjustment but he's already brought them in. He's going to let them settle for a few days, change the strings and do the intonation. I'll tell you ... it was a sweet deal!

So that one's gone ... but thanks for the info!!

Thank you for the heads up Ed. I saw that one but my guitarist advised me that a Baritone guitar is more like a 7 string guitar in regards to the fact it's not a bass, it's simply a guitar with lower tuned strings. I'm mainly a bass player, Alembic basses! So what ever i get needs to fill the bass role totally. The guitarist i work with picked up the doubleneck Bob refered too from the Natick GC and for fun and show we want to switch off playing bass and lead guitar during some songs so i need a full fledged bass on one neck. Obviously it won't be up to Alembic standards but for the most part it'll be a gimick so that's ok. My Alembic's will be played most of the evening. So that Carvin unfortunately won't work out but thanks for the info and the help!!!

Well I found someone who custom makes lower end guitars. They are bolt on neck guitars but look as good quality as the other major bolt on neck guitar manufacturers. He buys their replacement necks and pickups, builds his own bodys and will custom make you a guitar with any configuration, set-up or body shape you like. He'll also put what ever kind of electronics you like. I decided on a Fender Precision bass and Telecaster 6 String double neck. And his price was out of this world reasonable! It's no Alembic ... but for the price??? Here's the link if anyone's interested. BTW I have no affiliation with this guy ... I'm strictly a customer. I haven't gotten the guitar yet ... it's in transet. when i get it i'll up-date how well it was made and how it plays.
