Needed Power Supply & Cable for Series 1 bass
« on: September 09, 2005, 08:55:24 AM »
Hi All
I am purchasing locally here in Montreal a 1973/74 Series 1 long scale but it does not come with power supply or cable. Please let me know if anyone has this to sell. A hard case or gigbag would be great as well.
Thanks
Phil

Congrats on the purchase!  If it is a point body, my personal opinion is that it is not a good idea to use a gig bag.  A fellow club member told me that, even though he was careful, the point on his Series bass was damaged in a gig bag.

Still waiting to sell my Electric upright so I can afford the Bass but I found the serial number and it is a 1976 long scales Series 1 76-426. Can anyone tell me anything about this?
Thanks

Phil; to increase your chances that Val will see your request, you should post a message to the Alembic Basses & Guitars section of this forum.  The title of the post should be something like Serial Number Request.

Phil, I have a case for you.  It is for a long scale bass with a point.  It is from the mid to late 70's.  The case is in pretty darn good shape.  It is one of them big blue cases. I think it has red lining in the inside. I have not seen it in a long time, it is in my attic.  From what I remember it just had a couple of marks on it along one of the sides. I would not call it mint, but very good to excellent. It would be the correct case for your bass.  Since it was in my attic, it did not get any flood water! I wish I could say the same for the bass. Want it?  The problem is that I think it would cost as much to ship the case as it would if there was a bass in it because it is so large.  Let me know what you think....Michael

Hi Michael

I've heard about some of what you've been through on different postings to this list. Most important of all I hope you and your family are well! The most amazing vacation of my life was 17 years ago, Madi Gras in New Orleans and I feel fortunate to have those memories of an amazing place & people. I am really sorry for the people affected. I am getting the bass with a generic gig bag and Dave warned that this would not be sufficient protection especially for a point bass. I realize that shipping will be costly on the case but let me know how much you would like for the case as well as a rough estimate on shipping cost that would be great. I could pay with PayPal Iif that works. My shipping address would be Phil Peters C/O CNC Global 1001 Boul De Maisoneuve West. Montreal Quebec Canada H3A 3C8

Phil - I shipped the case today.  I mentioned in a previous post that I thought the inside of the case was red.  It isn't.  It is a dark blue.  I think the case is in pretty darn good shape for it's age.  I will post a tracking number later when I can find it.
