I believe (but I could be wrong) 4 and 5 strings follow a different serial number sequence. Do you know the exact year of yours? If you can send me a picture, I would love to take a look at it!

I think it's around 86, but I'm not the first owner
I have bought last year a new S2, and the sound is really different between the old and the new one, I sold the new one

Ohhh yes, I remember seeing this one on the Status forum, gorgeous bass!
Anyway now I can definitely tell you that the serial number sequence is different than a 4 strings. Yours is probably between 86 / '88.
The string retainer and the pick-up cover on a 4 are different, this is how they would look if the serial number was the same system:

it is my third Status, and it is the best for me, incredible sound with a GK700 and a RBH115
