Hello,
Good you decieded to keep your bass. A very beautiful bass indeed and you're right; with an Alembic there are no compromises!! I'll get a Chapman Stick next summer but I keep all my basses even if I have a new instrument to learn.
BTW how is your cat reacting with the bass? I'd love to get a cat one day but I fear it might use my basses as a target for cat-attacks with exposed sharp claws, and I'd hate to see scratch marks on such a nice wood surface....So do you hide your bass or how do you manage to keep your cat off it?

bass regards
Jan

My cat shows no interest at all in my basses. I leave them exposed in a wooden stand that he has easy access to. For further temptaion the stand is right next to the fish tank. However his previous owner had him declawed so I haven't had much to worry about. Now my carpet covered speaker cabs are a whole different matter entirely. He tries to sharpen his non-existent claws on the grills and leaves his white hair all over the black carpet. I don't support declawing cats so I would suggest a black cat and cabinets with metal grills. Just a thought.

My cats show no interest in my basses either. Have ignored them completely for 10 years. They are not declawed, they are indoor/outdoor cats, have been for the last 8 years . I was afraid to let them out when they were kittens, and during that time( first 2 years), they did sharpen their claws on the black carpet of my Hartke cabinet ( which has now been turned into a wood-finish cabinet).  That habit , though, stopped the moment they were able to go outside.  Trees are their scratchpost of choice. I've had a carpet covered SWR for 4 years now and they haven't touched it once.

Cats ...cats ....cats????
Try a rabbit.
My kids had a dwarfrabbit a couple of years ago. In that time I played on a Alumabass/Mesaboogie combination for speakers.  On a day I found the Mesaboogie making fuzz , screeks and hisses.
What it was?
I discovered that Bunny ate part of the rubber cable from amp to Mesa.
I prefer a cat!

BTW: rabbit taste great shimmered in Abbey-beer and onions.

My cats (3 of them) ignore the basses, but don't hesitate to jump into the cases when they are open.

Thankfully my 100 pound German Sheperd was never in a wood chewing stage.  No doubt he could do a heckuva lot of damage.  And if he even THINKS of lifting his leg near a guitar stand.......

i have a few cat scratches on the top of my martin, but they've ignored the electrics and the amps completely.  However i do have a set of thiel speakers for my stereo with a very fine cloth covering which is ripped to shreds.  I've noticed several dogs at other peoples houses have licked the martin as well.

Likewise, I have had cat scratches on a lot of speaker grills over the years.  They're pretty respectful of the guitars, though.

Paul (The Bad One) - IMHO, eating rabbits is barbaric. They're sweet, adorable pets, which attach to their owners, and they're much smarter than I used to think! We (my wife and I) are temporarily taking care of my wife's friend's bunny. We love the pet so much that we think when my wife's friend finishes her studies end comes back to Warsaw, she won't get her bunny back! ;-)
I'd never eat a rabbit. For me it's the same as eating dogs or cats.

But... much as I love bunnies, I do prefer cats, too. ;-)

Do you still have this instrument for sale? I'm distinctly very interested in buying it and I know the most affordable shipping company in the country so that's not really an issue. Get back with me here's one question though it is stereo?

LOL - based on the prices mentioned I was contemplating whether to quickly drain my bank account by a few grand, not having clicked on to the dates!

Hello. I have decided that I'm just going to keep my bass. Anything else would be a compromise. Thanks to all who inquired.

Good call, you'd probably regret it, however if you change your mind in the future for some reason and feel like trading for a Warr Phalanx (12 piezo 6 midi Zebra top), feel free to message me. Cheers!
