Hi Jay,

I am potentially interested in the Persuader.  Do you have build details?

Being a relatively new Alembician, I am not familiar with the shape and features...

Kind Regards,
Sean.

Sean; generally, Persuaders have P/J pickups rather than the normal soapbar; thus these pickups do not have the normal adjustment screws.  The controls are also unique in that they are P-volume, J-volume, and Filter.  There have been several discussions of Persuaders, one in which Mica discusses some issues regarding the controls.  I'm guessing that if you run a search for Persuader you should find these discussions without too much problem.  There are a few pictures in the gallery as well.  However, I believe it is the case that not all Persuaders have the same pickup configuration.  I'm thinking that some had 2 J-pickups rather than P and J.

Joeri,    Just to (hopefully) make it easier for everyone, here are the photos you send of the Persuader scaled to fit the board (I am happy to reduce any others you would like to eMail me):

Details on the electronics:  Active\/passive switch ; 2 separate volume pots for each pickup so they can be blend to your own specifications; 1 master tone pot. This last one really functions as the tone shaping knob. From very deep reaggae sound 'till sparklin' high.  (Message edited by waggaboy on April 25, 2004)

Isn't that Persuader in a Spoiler body actually a Spoiler?  My understanding is that the biggest difference was that a Persuader has P/J pickups and a Spoiler has soap bars.

Can yoyu say what the scale lengths are for each instrument?  Also, do you have asking prices for these, or are you trying to keep the numbers off the boards?

Thanks-
Bob

Bob; Spoiler electronics are Volume, Pickup Selector Switch, Filter, Q Switch.  Persuader elctronics are Volume, Volume, Filter.  A few had the Q switch also, as apparently this one does.  The difference is not necessarily in the pickups as some Persuaders did have AXY's.  For a pretty detailed discussion of Persuaders by Mica, go here:

Mica said that Spoiler electronics with a panpot instead of the p/u selector is actually the Elan package. So if it's a panpot then it's Elan electronics, but like Dave said 2 volume pots would make it a Persuader package - but modified with AXYs and a Q switch.

What's the initial on the serial number? On the reference pages it says Persuaders have either P, V or F - perhaps for the Persuader, Vector and F...? body styles.

In any case, Spoilers and Persuaders didn't come with purpleheart neck laminates as standard issue. So Jay, are you keeping any Alembics?
