Ray, as a generalization, without knowing the specifics of your situation, get the Persuader and pass on the marriage .

Woo-hoo!!!!  I won the five string Persuader auction at what I consider to be the excellent and fair price of just under $1250 including shipping.  I am extremely pleased at the moment since I was willing to bid a couple hundred higher, if necessary.  That may have been an over-bid for this bass, but the more I have been thinking about a shorter scale Alembic, the more I've been wanting one.  The extra string and neck laminates made this one too hard to pass up as a bargain entry point.

The next week or so waiting for delivery is going to be just as bad as all you people waiting for your customs to be delivered, albeit a much shorter wait.  I can't imagine what you go through waiting like this for 4-6 months!

Bob .... Congratulations!!! As a current Persuader owner I KNOW you'll love it! Welcome to the family.

As a side comment ... I also dove off the deep end this weekend. I'm ordering a brand new Stanley Clark Standard with a quilt maple top. It'll sit next to my Persuader on stage which also has a quilt maple top. (Nice visual) Actually it was seeing that you bought the 5 string Persuader today that made me decide to take the leap. I had the bass buying bug, ... passed a great deal (your Persuader ... you got a good deal) and decided I couldn't pass the deal quoted me from this store for the SC. To get the SC I've decided to sell my 95 Epic 5 sting with a Bubinga top. The Epic comes with a hard case and doesn't have a scratch so you'll see it shown here and on E-Bay soon. Breaks my heart to sell it but I've been dreaming about a SC for a while. ................ Anyway enough about my new toy. YOU'RE going to LOVE the Persuader ... trust me! I'll be looking forward to hearing your comments after you have the new family member home for a few days! :-) It's not a Series II but it may just suprise you. Regardless what I buy in the future I think I'll be KEEPING my Persuader. It's become a good trusted friend.

Again Bob ... Congratulations!
Ray

Thanks, guys.

Ray, another bidder would have had to pay $1575 delivered to win it away from me.  While that price might have still been in a range that you would call fair for this bass, I don't think the word bargain would still have applied.  I am thankful that no one really bid hard against me, and that I was able to keep a few hundred dollars in my pocket rather than sending them off to Arizona.

On the down side, it won't ship until Tuesday and it may take a full week to get here.  I am trying to make solid contact with the seller to see if I can pay an extra $25 or so to get a 3-day delivery.

-Bob

Bob; I plugged some numbers into the UPS calculator and came up with 3-day being about $34 more than ground.

Yeah $1575 would have been a little high but still not out of the range for this bass with a case. I hope you can get it sooner. Also i think the price you paid we very fair ... I think you did well. My Persuader 4 string with no case cose me $1200 so if the bass is in top shape like mine is (just a few scratches and minor wear) you did better than I did! I know you'll enjoy it.
