One of the pots in my 94 Epic is stamped as made in Mexico, which is probably the same as what Eugen is describing. If there's an electronics parts manufacturer in Mexico that meets the Alembic standards, hey as long as Alembic are building the actual electronics package I'm sure I won't complain.
It's not realistic to expect a small operation like Alembic to produce each and every part that make up the instrument, especially inexpensive stuff like resistors, pots or capacitors - which in spite of the cheapness are only cheap to produce in bulk, and in capital-intensive plants. Also I'm sure that Alembic are not using parts from the cheap end of the price range.
I remember a Dutch magazine received a firm denial from Susan when they printed an interview with Stanley Clarke back in the 80s, in which he was reported to have said that the electronics in his latest Alembic were Japanese. Seems like the same ball of confusion.
