Hi there, I need Pickups for my Spoiler Bass, because I bought a Signature Electronic and I think it?s better to use newer AXY Pickups for this funky Stuff.

Thank you    Eugen

I believe the Spoiler came with AXY's standard.

Eugen,

Are you thinking about the FatBoys? They're supposed to be 'hotter' than AXYs. According to Mica they're also the same size as AXYs, so you can install them in a Spoiler without any woodworking.

The price was mentioned in a thread recently - IIRC something like 120 USD a piece.

Fatboys are larger than stock Spoiler pups. At least they are on my basses.

Thanks, but is it not a different between old Spoiler Pickups and maby AXY you can get with the Activator Electronic?

Eugen,

Spoilers normally have AXY pickups. If you can buy a set of AXYs with Activator electronics then they will probably be identical to the pickups of the Spoiler, but I'm pretty sure you can order items seperately (ask Mica).

So what are your plans with the Signature electronics?

Danny's FatBoys are the 5/6 version, they are bigger than the 4-string version. There is not physcial difference in size between the AXY and FatBoy pickups, as long as you compare 4-string sizes to 4-string sizes, etc.

Eugen, if you're not picky about appearance, I have a small collection of cosmetic second pickups that I offer at half price. Adriaan's right that the normal price is $120 each for the 4-strings AXY.

Forgive my faux pas.
Do the seconds fit in a Thunderbird? A black set might do the trick.

cosmetic second: the item failed quality control inspectiion, because it was not first in all respects. However, it is perfectly functional, and the only defects are in appearance (cosmetic).

In this case, it means the pickup sounds as great as any other, but something probably looks less than perfect about the plastic housing. Maybe there is a bubble void, or a swirl, or with certain pickups (I forget which ones) it's possible that the copper cage on the coil might be slightly visible.

My guess is that if one looks really bad, it just gets thrown away, and that Mica's small collection could be a good deal. If you're really interested, you should probably contact her directly for a more specific description.

How does one purchase a cosmetic second? I have some fatboys and would like to compare them to AXYs.
