Hello Alembicians I am hoping that the connoisseurs of all things Alembic can help me narrow down the asking price for my Rogue. I am selling so that I can upgrade to a higher model - in a perfect world I'd keep and add, but since I have to pick just one, I must part with my beloved. Here are the pics

It was built in 1999. It has the Elan in line headstock, the block bridge, bookmatch to center cocobolo top, brass backplates, sidemounted 1/4" jack, signature electronics, and an extra set of Q and quick tone change switches (one set dedicated to each p/u). What do you guys think?

A couple questions:

What's the scale length?
The string spacing looks a bit wide, does it seem so?
What is the neck construction? Walnut pinstripes, or purpleheart stringers?
Is there a back laminate?

The very non-standard electronics will make it hard to pinpoint a value. Also, value on a used deal is always dependant on who is looking for what, and if you want a quick sale or can be patient until the right buyer notices the bass.

I am more than willing to be patient - I dreamt of this bass for 10 years, and then I saved for it for 5. Now, I'm hooked and want to graduate to the next level of Alembic.

Gosh ...I need my stockings again. REALLY beautiful bass. I think the electronics are very versatile AND powerfull!
Bookmatch to center really suits a Rogue and ...well I 'll keep my mouth shut concerning the headstock!!!

Thanks for your kind thoughts - and yes - I know what you mean about the headstock. If I had it now to do again I would not - but at the time everyone I knew was either getting Alembics or had one and I did everything I could to not be like everyone else. The Rogue body style even to this day (IMHO) is still relatively unknown and the crown and cone pegheads are dead Alembic giveaways.

I do prefer the cone peghead - and have already set my mind on getting it with my new Alembic once I place the order next year.

oooops Kayo ...I think you got me wrong.
I think most of the people here around know that I am NOT a big fan of pointed headstocks and definitely not on Rogues. So I wanted to keep my mouth shut because I am always nagging about that cone/Orion heastock on Rogues.
So conclusive: you are from the cone-league, I am from the anti-cone-league.
But as I said before: that's a good thing, differences makes the world a nicer place to stay!

Of course I do not mind. I find the fraternal sentiment of the Alembic club to be quite refreshing and supportive. Those members who post on a regular basis demonstrate the highest integrity, collaboration and a sense of loyalty to the Alembic Family and the consummer population that so highly regard the fruit of their work.

I am a proud Alembic owner - proud of the product, proud of the vendor's attention to detail and quality assurance, proud of the greater group that are the users of this product line.

Most importantly, I am proud to play my Alembic every time I pick it up, whether it's plugged in, or not - but especially when it is!

Wow,what a great looking Rogue.I'm sorry you feel that you must part with it to get another Alembic bass but you gotta do what you gotta do.I love the electronics set up on it.I'm with Kayo about pride of Alembic ownership.Over the weekend,I flew to Baltimore for a few day's off and it was the first time I flew without my Rogue 5 and the first thing I did when I got back home was to pull my bass out and play it.Before I did anything else.It was as if I was a junkie in serious need of a fix.I'm very proud to have such an addiction.
