20th Anniversary Model 89AM001 still there
« on: November 13, 2004, 10:30:32 AM »
I have pictures for this but there was a tech error trying to attach.  First one of the 1989 20th Anniversary Alembic models.  My brother owned it and he died this year.  I'd like for lovers of these guitars to have it, if possible.  Looking for $2K but make an offer.  I'll email pictures to you if you're interested since I can't seem to get them on the thread properly.

Well, I've looked at the pictures and I am afraid that this bass would not be a keeper for me.  As such, I will pass.  I wouldn't want to buy this bass to turn a profit.  Other instruments, maybe, but not this one.

The bass is a quilted maple top with a bit of burl here and there.  If I have the opportunity later, I will get the pics resized and post them.

Someone please give this instrument a good home.

I'm on vacation, so I have the time.  The bass looks to be in excellent condition, from the shots Bob sent me.  I cannot believe this has not been snatched up yet.

These are not full-sized shots.  From looking closely at the full-sized ones, I cannot tell if this bass has been played or not.  The brass on the bridge is tarnished, but time will do that.  I do not see a mark on the pickups, nor in the finish.  If I were not without funds right now, I would buy this.

The stereo/mono switch might be aftermarket as it appears chrome not black.  Also, the straplocks may not be included.

Finally, I have suggested that the price is too low for this instrument.  It may or may not be available at this price.  I was concerned that the price was too attractive to someone to buy and resell the bass for a quick profit, and that's not fair to this owner or instrument.  I apologize to anyone who may miss out on a super deal as a result of this.

If you want to own and cherish this instrument, please contact Mark Philip Nelson and let him know.  I suspect he will be receptive to offers that would place this instrument in a good home!

On the subject of the stereo-mono switch, if you look at Michael's old prototype, it has a silver switch, too.  So I am guessing that this is probably the original switch it came with.

Opps, forgot about the strap locks.  They are standard issue Dunlops, and easily acquired through most Internet music stores - gold or stainless steel (which these came with).

Hulloh bro's andf sist's,

let me quote my good friend and brother Rami on this (and maybe spoiling the party):
buy all you can get with 'anniversary' on it, sooner or later it will pay you more than back: Fenders, Gibsons, Ricks, Globals, Yamaha's, Arts, EM's, Status's , Staggs, Hanewinckels, Ritters, Ken Smith's, Fodera's, ...you name it.
There will always be a (internet)club of people who really like the thing ...pkay ...sooner or later ....maybe later ...

Paul the bad one

Your post causes me to expand the question a bit further.  If you have 92AM124, 200 may not even have been made.  Just like with the Spyders, there's a max limit, but that doesn't mean they've all been ordered/built.

Hi folks.  First off, the straplocks are missing on this.  Second, this instrument was played by my brother..he had an older one, then this one for five years and bought a Europa in 94 and a few other newer ones..but he always took good care of his instruments and things..and it is in good condition.

They look like the recessed option on the straplocks. Provides a very clean look.
