Okay...I got cold feet the last time around, but this time I'm really going to do it. My 2001 Orion six string guitar is for sale. The top is an amazing burl redwood. It has a single purpleheart body lam as well. With the exception of mild tarnish on the bridge and tailpiece, this instrument is flawless. Looks like it came home from Santa Rosa yesterday. The serial number is 010 12549. Please e-mail me for more pics and/or information. A nice, full body shot can be seen in the Custom Archive under Little Bear. I'm asking $2000, which I believe to be quite reasonable. I have no plans to post this on ebay.

There's been a lot of confusion about which guitar is for sale...my own fault. Here are a couple of pictures. It's the Orion that's for sale...not the Little Bear. Regards, Jonathan

Jonathan - I've always thought that was a beautiful guitar and if I didn't have another Alembic in the works I'd be very tempted. Good luck.

Yep I agree with you there Orions are a beautiful shape and this one looks fine. I'm still looking for an Alembic guitar and am a bit wary about buying from overseas without getting to grips with it first.

It's a pity none seem to come up for sale in the UK.
I hope the sale goes well.

I'm due to be in the states with the band I play with sometime between now and Easter next year on tour. I hope that during that time I can hook up with someone here who is selling an alembic guitar at the right price so I can take it back with me and possibly sell the guitar i bring on the road with me at the same time.

Thankfully I managed to find an Alembic Orion recently being sold buy a music shop in Germany and got it at a fair price.

It was delivered last week and I took it to rehearsal last night for its first real blow out and ... it's an incredible guitar.

Fantastic tone almost like an amplified acoustic guitar when the treble is full on.
Very very crisp and clean sounding. Very very sensitive tonally. I generally use Jim Dunlop 3mm big stubby plectrums as they give me good control and also have a nice thick sound.

At the moment I play in a couple of reggae bands and yesterday I noticed I was getting a big twack sound when choping rhythm on the alembic something that is not as pronounced on my strat.

So I May have to start using a lighter pick for rhythm work and swapping back to the big stubby for those songs where i do more picking and solo work.

I'm really blown away by the whole guitar. I'm a strat player normally and although I'd never get rid of my strat, the Alembic has a sound all of its own which I hope to become more acquainted with as time goes by.

It did take me a while to get used to getting specific sounds quickly on my SC DLX bass so I hope to get the guitar tone under my belt soon.

I'm looking forward to using it on my gig this Saturday. :-)
