Chester Thompson Wannabe Selling Hammond B3
« on: March 20, 2007, 08:03:14 PM »
Hey Folks.

I am selling a Hammond B3 Organ and the Leslie 122. Both Pieces were purchased together in or around 1960 by a small church near my office. I took it as payment for some Pro Audio work. I have always wanted to be a B3 Player. I wanted to be the next Chester Thompson. Yeah Right. Anyway. I am a bass player, drummer, guitarist and a sound engineer. I don't have time for another instrument.

Anyway. This organ is in really excellent condition. As far as I can tell, the only bad thing is that the Leslie Switch is intermittent. And I'm not for certain that it's bad. It just may need to be cleaned. Once again. I just don't have the time for it.

So I'm gonna sell this and buy the equipment that I do need for my business.  And I can pay off that Series I guitar I just put on Layaway at Showcase.

Please let me know if you have any questions. I will set up appointments for you to come by and play it at my shop if you like. If you want any other pictures, let me know. I'll send them to you via emeail.

I'm asking $5500 obo

Wow, That brings back memories. I got to play in a rock band with a B-3 in the early 70s, then the keyboard player quit and moved to No-Cali. It was a b#tch to haul into gigs (4 guys and furniture dollies...uugh!).
You have the pedals as well, cool.

So... free shipping to Chicago?  (he he  j/k)
There's still no other sound quite like it.
good luck on the sale.

and another four guys and furniture dollies for the Leslie (actually, I recall it only took two of us and it had wheels--but my confidence in details from the 70s gigs is not high).  But how the heck else are you going to match that Vanilla Fudge sound?

Doc, it's a good thing some of us do live too far away (the shipping to Chicago would have to be insane) or we'd be lining up to grab the stuff for old time's sake.

I wonder how your could get in touch with Melvin Seals? I just spoke with him, as a fan, on Sunday night. He mentioned playing more in Colorado and wanted to get another Hammond to keep here. Maybe through the Jerry Garcia Band webpage, you could find a way to contact him. I'll send this over to Shakedown Street band and see if they can reach him.

Oh man I am drooling over this. The organist in this band www.myspace.com/ohmygod (one of my favorite bands) plays through a leslie that is probably much like that. Oh man do I want it.

Then Oh Man.  I do want you to buy it.  Getting it to Michigan may be a little costly.  Mut I can make it happen.
