FSOT: Alembic Dragon Wing

***After some suggestions of some helpful Forum members I have decided to keep the bass*** _______________________________________________________________   Dear All, after long thoughts about this I have decided to sell or trade my Dragon Wing. I know, you now will say: what the hell is he doing? Well, this time it is not mainly moneywise so I will explain the situation first: 1. I urgently need a 5string for my second band Martigan. You      all know what I have bought ex Jeffs Scooter but this needs     to be paid off and it will take a few months for me still. 2. I urgently need a 5string for my second band Martigan.      I cannot do the job with a 4string, tried to, but I definetely     need the low B string. And as the first gig is scheduled to     be on November 7th I need to do something. 3. the gigs with my WHO tribute get bigger, more professional     and rougher. We do have 3 roadies helping us and I don?t      want to risk anymore taking the Dragon on stage.     OK, you might say taking Scooter one day with me on stage     is the same. No, with Martigan I do have full control as I can      take care of my equipment by myself, but with WHO ARE YOU        we have reached another dimension. As I am not able to keep the Dragon and to just leave it at home (I also need to buy a second rig for Martigan) I have decided to give it to someone else who would take good care of it. The bass is in fantastic condition, no dings, no dongs, no scratches. Only the brass of the bridge and tail has a bit tarnished. So generally I am also open to trade in towards an equal Alembic 5string. If I would sell it I could use the money for Scooter, if not I also would be happy to trade in an Alembic 5 for it to have the actual Martigan problem solved.  Oliver (Spyderman)

That's quite a surprise Oliver ! I'm sure it hasn't been an easy decision to take.
Needless to say that's a gorgeous bass. Good luck with sale, hopefully it stays in the Club.

Might I suggest, Oliver, that you acquire a used Epic 5 or Essence 5 at a reasonable price to handle the business of Martigan?  Or even, at the risk of promoting anarchy, there are a number of inexpensive 5-strings that might cover your needs.

Then you can keep the Dragon Wing.  I obviously don't know the entire situation with your stage crew and such, but why can't they handle the rig and you carry DW on stage yourself?

Just askin'.

James,
many thanks for your suggestions.
I have thought about these and this is worth a try.
Rather looking for a Epic or Essence 5 at a reasonable price would make sense.
Thank you for your thoughts, they helped me and I think I will keep the bass, needs to be kept.
Thank you!
Oliver (Spyderman)

These instruments out live us.  But in every custom a bit of our personality is preserved.  I'm glad to hear you will be keeping your dragon wing.  It only seems proper.

Hi Oliver,

I have another idea.
It is conversion Your Tears for John to 5 strings !

Dragon's head has enough space for extra tuner on the other side.
You must to order new custom 5 strings tailpiece, and replacement 5 strings nut and bridge for narrow neck 5st. as my basses.
I love 5 strings on regular 4 strings width neck.
It works fine for non slapping guys.
If your play style is 2 fingers or flat picking, it is best way to keep your bass and save money.

Oliver I am so glad you decided to keep Tears for John.  I was thinking about this since yesterday and the alternatives suggested by the club would seem to be alternatives to be tried first.  Best of luck with your search and the bands.
